*** 3-301 Newsletter ***

March 2, 2003

Hi!

I hope everyone had a good weekend.  Happy birthday, ***!  Congratulations to ***, who represented our school at the District 13 storytelling contest last week.  Congratulations also to *** and *** who participated in a talent show on Friday!

Plants!

Last week, we began a life science unit on plants.  We need your help to make this science unit successful.  Please read page 2, which is all about our plant unit.  We need science supplies…  It would be great if your child could bring the things he or she has circled on page 2.  Last week, the children were very excited to explore and organize the science materials here at school.  They also had many, many questions about plants.  We will be doing experiments, reading our textbook, and writing about science to answer our plant questions and meet NYC learning standards.

Science Fair Projects

Does your child have a strong interest in a particular type of science?  Perhaps your child is interested in a particular animal, interested in chemicals or electricity, or interested in the earth or in space travel?  Now’s the chance for your child to do an experiment or present a report in the form of a science fair project.  Paper-clipped to this newsletter is a packet about preparing a science fair project.  Projects are optional, but can be a lot of fun for children who have a strong interest in science.  Please bring completed projects to school on Monday, March 10th.
