Social Studies Shortcuts
Guide - 3/22/05 (but uploaded on 4/5)
It's been great getting email from teachers who have found this site or who
have sent a comment when they've joined the
contact list. You have inspired me to get more info off my
hard drive and onto this website... Including a new page on
teaching social studies.

Join the contact list and I'll send you an

General Resources and Record Visitors! - 3/6/05
Need a blank lesson plan form? Here is a new
page with general resources that I've
created and used. Gifts from my hard drive to yours! This
website runs solely on compliments, so if any of this stuff is useful to
you, send me some love!
In February, there were a record 275 visitors to this website! Thank
you so much to everyone who has visited and everyone who has told an
educator about this site... If you have a website, please don't hesitate to
link to www.Teach-and-Learn.org;
let's keep getting the word out!

Yes to Answers, No to Forum- 2/27/05
I've added more questions and answers about guided reading to the
reading page. Keep those questions
coming! Email me
anytime. Also, I'm removing the
forum for now- too many technical glitches! Two days ago, I got
something fabulous in the mail... More on that soon!

Everyday Mathematics Program - 2/10/05
Last night, I had a great conversation about teaching math with some dynamic
early-career teachers. They inspired me to post a page on Everyday
Math.

New! A Forum - 2/6/05
(Update 2/27... Forum was removed.)
I have been a busy bee, trying to make this site interactive. The effort
will be well worth it if teachers find this forum
useful. Check it out and happy posting!

Back in New York - 2/3/05
I got back home last night from my walk down memory lane in North Carolina.
Today I woke up to that bane of a teacher's existence - laryngitis. Well,
even if I can't talk, at least I can write. I've added
documents from my
hard drive to the page on
teaching reading, check them out!
I'm gradually becoming a better
frontpage webmaster with the help of an Absolute Beginner's Guide by J.
Kettell and K. Chase (Que Publishing, 2004) and plenty of calls to
earthlink. As I add content, pages might move around, but if you
add this home page to your favorites, you'll always be able to get to the others... Back to Top

Goodies in the New Year - 1/29/05
First off, thank you so much to all of you who encouraged me and sent positive
energy my way about the grad school applications. It worked! Not
only was I able to turn in the applications, but last week I had very
encouraging conversations with professors at two of my schools!
Some of you
may have noticed that this month I posted a page on
teaching reading. It's mostly about guided reading right now.
I'm happy to answer any questions you have about teaching reading, just
email me! Tomorrow, I'm off
to Duke University to recruit for
Teach for America.
Teach for America changed my life. It's how I became a teacher!
I'm doing a presentation on Monday which I'm currently having butterflies
about. If the presentation goes well, I'll add a page about it... Back to Top
